Over-The-Counter Weight Loss Pill Reduces Risk of Life-Threatening Diseases

(MyPRClub) - Last January, the 1st International Congress on Abdominal Obesity was held in Hong Kong. During the conference, many studies were presented and this included the study on overweight people and people who are suffering from obesity and were consuming the over-the-counter medication Alli®.

According to the findings of the study, overweight patients under the medication, were able to achieve positive health effects be combining the medication with a low-fat and low-calorie diet. Patients were not only able to lose weight, waist size and body fat, but they were also able to reduce their risks of contracting diseases such as hypertension, stroke, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

For those who have not heard of Alli®, it is a single, over-the-counter weight loss medication that is approved by the FDA. The pill has been clinically tested and was found to enhance weight loss by as much as 50 percent. It also dramatically reduced visceral fat in the body. Alli® heads straight to the digestive tract of the patient and stops as much as 25 percent of the consumed fat from being absorbed by the body.

Visceral fat is identified as the layer of fat that surrounds the vital organs in the abdomen. Once this layer of fat reaches an excess amount, it will inevitably upset the functioning of the particular organ, hence, multiplying the risk of the patient to develop fatal diseases.

Fortunately, research has shown that a considerable reduction of this visceral fat can be achieved even with minor weight loss. This is because the visceral fat is one of the types of fat that are first to disappear when a patient loses weight. And along with this visceral fat loss is reduction in cholesterol levels.

According to Dr. Jeanine Albu of the New York's St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, most people who try to reduce their weight are doing so in order to enhance their appearance. However, it's also important that these people also educate themselves about the health benefits of losing weight.

Dr. Albu also claims that the only way to do this is to raise people's awareness about the direct connection between life-threatening diseases such as heart disease and the amount of visceral fat in one's body.

To keep such diseases at bay, a patient must remain active, adopt healthier eating habits and continue treatments that include an Alli diet.
