CEMEX Announces Change in Management
Less than a month ago, CEMEX announced a few changes to its senior management tier. The most important appointment in this regard is that Fernando Gonzalez will now serve CEMEX as Executive vice president, Planning and Finance. Gonzalez has been involved with CEMEX for the past 2 decades and since 1989, he has served in various positions. In 2003, Gonzalez became a member of the Executive committee. With his enriched experience with the company, Gonzalez has been the obvious choice for this position, and he will be taking care of developmental and corporate planning as well.
Gonzalez will take up this responsibility following the retirement of Hector Medina and Armando Garcia. Medina has served CEMEX California as Executive Vice President of Finance and legal issues. Garcia was Executive Vice President of technology, energy and sustainability. He has been, and still remains, a member of the board of directors.
Included in this change in the higher level management at CEMEX, is Francisco Garza, who is the president of CEMEX Americas. Gonzalez, recently appointed as Vice President Planning and Finance; Juan Romero, President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia; and Victor Romo, Executive Vice president, Administration, will be reporting directly to Lorenzo H. Zambrano, CEO and Chairman of CEMEX California. All these changes are effective in March 2010.
Zambrano believes that Gonzalez has a huge challenge of executing the implementation of financial strategies. Zambrano says that with the rich experience Gonzalez has, as a professional in this field, he has the potential to meet the challenges the company is facing in the competitive market.
CEMEX is a globally renowned company that provides building material to more than 50 countries in the world. The products offered by CEMEX are of high quality. CEMEX looks forward to Fernando Gonzalez's effective leadership.
