WhyITNow.org Announces New IT Innovators Awards at Interop 2010 Las Vegas
White House, California Department of Education, Amazon, HP, IBM and Microsoft in first winner's circle
Folsom, CA. - The WhyITNow.org initiative has announced plans to recognize Information Technology (IT) organizations, including the White House and the State of California Department of Education, for successfully transforming IT effectiveness with innovative strategy, products and services. The awards will be presented during the upcoming Interop conference, April 25-28, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV.
"In order for the United States to continue to lead the world in innovation and creativity, we must develop an advanced information technology ecosystem that is able to refresh itself with IT talent and creative thinkers. Exciting things are being developed by the tech community and by many in education and recognizing individuals and organizations both private and public that continue to innovate is a good way to shine a spotlight on the importance of IT innovation," said Bill Cullifer, WOW Executive Director and WhyITNow.org initiative.
The WhyITNow.org IT Innovators award committee is pleased to recognize the following organizations:
Secretary Locke and the Obama administration for making major investments in research and innovation. calling science "more essential for our prosperity, our security, our health, and our environment than it has ever been,"
California Department of Education for innovation in education improving IT education pathways and resources for students and teachers in the classroom through partnerships and strategic alliances
Amazon for its innovative efforts in Web Services
HP for introducing Touch Smart computers featuring touch screen functionality
IBM for Innovation in all aspects of data collection and analysis
Microsoft Bing for announcing several new features including semantic search capabilities
The Mid-Pacific ICT (MPICT) Center for focusing attention and resources on improving IT education in public education systems
Interop Las Vegas for the leading business technology event with the most comprehensive IT conference and expo available
"Many organizations talk about how vital IT Innovation is for differentiating themselves from their competition, but don't act on their own convictions," said Bob Haas, partner and Global Strategic IT director for A.T. Established by the WhyITNow.org initiative, a grass roots effort to promote the IT job opportunity pipeline and IT education, the ITInnovators.org award is given to industry organizations, government agencies and educational institutions that exemplify excellence in innovation.
