The NJEA's premiere professional development experience will feature presentations by CNN anchorwoman Soledad O'Brien who will keynote at the 2010 NJEA Convention. She is scheduled to speak on Friday, November 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A question and answer period will follow her address. Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D., an internationally recognized leader in the development of creativity, innovation and human resources, will address convention-goers on Thursday, November 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Richard Guerry, Executive Director for the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication and nationally recognized leader in digital safety, responsibility and awareness will address the convention attendees November 5 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Richard Guerrys' session will feature the nationally acclaimed Live Event program, "The Course to Digital Consciousness™. This preventative program is unique in that it does not solely focus on existing trends such as "sexting" and "cyber bullying", rather it communicates a vital thought system and foundation for a uniform and proactive solution to any digital issue.

"The Course" replaces perception with knowledge, it replaces ignorance with information, it changes your thought system as it relates to the use and understanding of digital tools and technologies, and this [digital] consciousness, awareness, or enlightenment, will ultimately eliminate irresponsible behavior born from ignorance and help to prevent trends like sexting, cyber bullying, exploitation, identity theft and other negative Effects or what Richard calls, Digital Disease™.

According to Richard, "Of course there will always be individuals and organizations that abuse digital tools and technologies even with a Digital Consciousness, however, with a consciousness; they will at least realize they are doing it. They will have the ability to evaluate risk vs. reward. They will clearly understand the potential folly of their decision before they make it, which eliminates the excuse, "I didn't know" ensuring they can be (fairly) held accountable for their actions."

Richard and The Institute are the ambassadors to Digital Enlightenment™, and desire to construct a global digital community free of negative and sometimes irreversible consequences resulting from uninformed poor digital judgment. The Institute strives to achieve this goal via this "Live Event" by demonstrating how your digital actions become Public and Permanent!
