Verizon and IROC2 Committed to Raising Digital Consciousness in New Jersey Communities
The Verizon Foundation, The New Jersey Partnership for Online Safety, and The Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication (IROC2) have aligned to provide six free digital awareness programs to urban communities across the state of New Jersey beginning Aug. 19 at Saint Peter's College.
Five more events and dates are currently being scheduled and will be announced through IROC2 accordingly. Any New Jersey schools interested in bringing a Live Event to their school or community should reach out to the Institute's Speakers Bureau through its website at www.iroc2.org.
Speaking at a recent conference, The Institute's Executive Director, Richard Guerry said, "This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved. Becoming an informed and responsible [digital] citizen in our global village is a vital developmental task necessary for everyone that utilizes and relies on evolving digital tools and technologies, regardless of age, race, demo and geo-graphics."
The School Safety Advocacy Council recently awarded IROC2's Live Event the Exemplary School Safety Program Award, and the Institute will be presenting at a variety of conferences across the United States in 2010 including the 11th National Conference on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Conference, the International Bullying Prevention Association Conference, and the New Jersey Education Association Conference.
